Nombre latino. De lulianus, "relativo a la familia de Julio". San J. fue un prelado español nacido en el año 1128 y muerto en el 1208. Fue nombrado obispo de Cuenca, una vez reconquistada aquella ciudad por Alfonso VIII en 1177. Se distinguió por su caridad para con los pobres. Otro san J. fue mártir en Antioquía, cuando Diocleciano era emperador de Roma. Sufrió el martirio juntamente con su esposa Basilisa (que sobrevivió a los tormentos que le infligieron y murió después de muerte natural). La festividad de San J. mártir es el día 9 de enero. Algunos piensan que la persona designada en el santoral por este nombre es la de Simón el Leproso, curado de su enfermedad por Jesús cuando éste fue invitado por él a comer. Algunos de este apellido proceden de Valencia, donde tuvieron casa solar. Fueron señores de Puchol. Juan Bautista J., natural de Valencia y señor de Puchol casó con doña Luisa Figuerola, de igual naturaleza, y fueron padres de Baltasar J. y Figuerola, natural de Valencia y señor de Puchol, que contrajo matrimonio con doña Vicenta Muñoz y Ribós, de la misma naturaleza (hija de Cristóbal Muñoz y de doña Ana María Ribós), naciendo de ese enlace Baltasar J. y Muños, natural de Valencia y caballero de la Orden de Montesa, en la que ingresó el 12 de enero de 1628. ...
