Ancient and noble German family, of clear and ancestral virtue, with collateral branches also in Danemark and in the Netherlands, that has worldwide spread, over the centuries. The oldest settlement of the family is found in Bavaria, where in the person of Leonhard, "Salzmaier" in Reichenhall, it obtained diploma of nobility on February 4, 1666, from Ferdinand Maria of Wittelsbach, elector of Bavaria. The same one bought the Widmoos estate in Miesenbach in 1669. The son Casimir got the knighthood and the predicate of Khriegen by Maximilian II Emanuel of Wittelsbach, on December 31, 1697.
