Antichissima famiglia patrizia di Forlì, ove risulta attestata sin dal XVI secolo, propagatasi, nel corso dei secoli, in diverse regioni d'Italia. Un Pio di questa casa godè titolo nobiliare, essendo castellano. Ma, d'altronde, tal casato, in ogni epoca, sempre riuscì a distinguersi, grazie agli elevati personaggi, a cui diede i natali. Molti suoi membri, infatti, si resero benemeriti in modo singolare della patria. Tra questi, senza nulla levar al valore degli omessi, ricordiamo: Brando, anziano del quartiere di San Valeriano, nel 1504; Paolo, che, insieme ai priori fratello e nipote, fu investito della castellania di Ravaldino, per chirogrado di Papa Clemente XI in data 15 luglio 1713; Antonio, suo fratello, il quale ottenne, per sè e per i suoi discendenti, il titolo di conte del S.
