Nobility crown LalisCette famille d'extraction noble, originaire d'Irlande, dit Saint-Allais, habitait les Cevennes (haut Languedoc), lorqu'en 1520, elle vint s'établir en Périgord. Ce généalogiste ajoute qu'elle a constamment fourni des serviteurs à l'Etat dans les emplois militaires. Un Blaise, écuyer, seigneur de Canterane, de Moncrabon, etc. servit avec distinction dans les armées de Henri IV, qui le reconnut par lettres en date de 1598, noble irlandais et luiaccorda, ainsi qu'à ses descendants, le titre et le privilège de gentilhomme français, et le droit de conserver ses armoiries irlandaises. En 1781, François, après avoir fait ses preuves de noblesse, fut nommé lieutenant dans le régiment de Montmorency-Luxembourg qui était envoyé aux Indes-Orientales. En 1785 il fut capitaine. En 1788 il revint en France, et en 1789 le prince de Luxembourg, colonel propiétaire du régiment de son nom, fit mettre le fils unique dudit François sur la liste des jeunes gentilshommes français qui devaient être élevés à l'Ecole royale Militaire. M., avait obtenu la croix de Saint-Louis et le brevet de lieutenant-colonel lorsque la révolution éclata et l'empêcha de jouir de bienfaits du roi et du prix de ses services. ...
