La casa matriz o cabezalera de este linaje radicada en la parroquia de San Román Mártir, es la señalada con el número 84, en la numeración hecha el año 1930. El historial y armerías de tan ilustre casa oquendana, los registró en su manuscroto heráldico Masnóu, Berna, en 1785. Este apellido es muy extendido en la penísula con numerosas casas solariegas. Por referencias de historiadores de la época y otras averiguadas por Araldis en los archivos registrales de ciudades y otros privados, podríamos afirmar, pero no asegurar, que este escudo u otro muy similar a él, apareció inicialmente desde el siglo XI al XIV, particularmente en la campaña del rey Sancho VII, en 1215, formando parte de las tropas que conquistaron varias localidades valencianas y que el papa Honorio III reconoció su propiedad en 1216.
