Antica ed illustre famiglia del Regno delle Due Sicilie, di chiara ed avita virtù, conosciuta come Lancelotti, Lancellotti, Lancillotti, Lanzilotta; lancillotto o Lanzarotto, propagatasi, nel corso dei secoli, in diverse regioni d'Italia e del Mondo. Come ben giusta il commendatore Gio. Battista di Crollalanza, nel suo monumentale "Dizionario storico-blasonico delle famiglie nobili e notabili italiane, estinte e fiorenti", ubblicata a Pisa nel 1886 in tre volumi, questa nobile casata era originaria della Francia.
