En Vizcaya hubo casas muy antiguas de este apellido en las anteiglesias de Bérriz y Elorrio, del partido de Durango y de Guizaburraga, del partido de Guernica. De esta partió una línea que se estableció en Murcia y que conservó el apellido compuesto de Lariz-Olaeta. A ella perteneció Juan Francisco de Lariz-Olaeta, natural de Murcia. Corregidor de Cáceres y Caballero de Santiago, en 1755. En Guipúzcoa hubo tambén diversas familias así apellidadas en Azcóitia, Legazpia, Mondragón y Tolosa. Pasaron a la Rioja, estableciéndose en las villas de Navarrete y Cornago esta última del partido judicial de Cervera del Rio Alhama. Otra casa hubo en la villa de Madrid, que debió proceder de Vizcaya, pues sus miembros se apellidaron Lariz-Durango.
