Nobility crown LeardoI L. sparsisi nel Tortonese negli ultimi secoli del medioevo ed originari della Liguria, erano annoverati tra le famiglie che dal 1250 al 1500 avevano ottenuto dal Consiglio degli Anziani facoltà di commerci in Genova e nel territorio della Repubblica e i suoi membri ricoprivano in quel periodo importanti cariche pubbliche: Domenico fu podestà nel Lazio ed in Toscana nel 1364; Loro era anziano nel 1365, Antonio nel 1379, Francesco nel 1387, Giuliano nel 1425, un'altro Giuliano nel 1457; l'Antonio predetto andò podestà a Pera (Costantinopoli) ed un suo omonimo nominato ambasciatore a Milano nel 1472; Francesco nel 1505 è console della Repubblica genovese a Siviglia. Appartenevano alla fazione degli artefici ghibellini; nel 1528 vennero ascitti al Libro d'Oro di quella nobiltà ed aggregati all'Albergo Grillo; le arme usate erano: Bandato d'azzurro e d'argento alla sbarra di rosso sul tutto; col capo d'oro all'aquila nascente coronata del campo e sbarrato ...
