Apellido aragonés, procedente de Francia. Una rama pasó a Valencia y a Murcia. Trae las armas de la Casa Real de Francia. Otra rama se estableció en las Encartaciones del país vasco. En sus "Discursos Históricos de la Muy Noble y Muy Leal Ciudad de Murcia y su Reino", el Licenciado Francisco Cascales, hizo una muy documentada reseña genealógica de este ilustre apellido, probando su calidad de noble y antiguo, descendiente de los Lisones de Grecia, citado reiteradamente por Marco Tulio Cicerón en sus Epístolas familiares. Respecto a sus armas, dice: "Traen unas armas, las cuales son defendidas, que como es dicho, ninguno puede traer Armas, reales derechamente, si no es primogénito, o algún Rey, si tuviere conquista con otro Rey, sobre otro reino. El Rey Fernando IV de Castilla, dió a Ato de L. la villa de Cabdete en el antiguo reino de Valencia, que la vendió un nieto suyo llamado Garci Jofré de L. para establecerse en Murcia, donde fue alcaide del castillo de Montagudo.
