Secondo quanto ci viene tramandato, essa discende dalla nobile famiglia conosciuta come di Luca o de Luca e dunque anch'essa riconosce come capostipite un Bernardo, signore del castello di Luco, nell'Umbria, dal quale discese un Sinibaldo, console di Roma e conte di Luco, nel 1586.
