Nobility crown LupiUne famille illustre et très ancienne, qui avait son origine à Acqui. Pietro Lupi y fut consul en 1205, Guglielmo conseiller en 1460, Tommasino en 1481. Alberto, de Giambattista, fut fief de Moirano le 29 avril 1740 et investi, le 10 mai suivant, du titre de comte. Giuseppe Maria, son fils, était docteur en droit et réformateur des écoles d'Acqui. Ses neveux Giambattista et Giuseppe, d'Alberto Nicolò, furent autorisés à obtenir un titre impérial (1812). Giambattista est né, entre autres, Giuseppe Maria qui était sous intendant général en 1831, sous-intendant à Bobbio en 1835, intendant à Suse en 1837, et Alberto, qui fut ministre plénipotentiaire en Hollande et en Belgique, à Pétersbourg, Madrid, Londres, en Bruxelles.
