Família alemã muito numerosa que veio para Portugal no século XVIII, sendo o seu primeiro membro aqui residente Henrique M. Outras personagens notáveis deu esta família de nobre estirpe. Henrique M. foi abastado negociante da Feitoria Hanseática da Bolsa de Lisboa e nasceu provávelmente em Hamburgo em 1708 e morreu em Lisboa a 18 de Agosto de 1780, com 72 anos de idade. Casou com D. Ana Doroteia Roocks, filha de Jacob Rooks e de D. Maria Elisabeth Holf, casal que veio para Portugal no séquito da Rainha D. Mariana de Áustria, esposa de D. João V. Nasceu D. Ana Doroteia em Lisboa a 7 de Maio de 1735 e aqui morreu a 4 de Janeiro de 1805 estando sepultada também, no cemitério inglês.Teve este casal nove filhos. O mais novo, Georg Peter M. foi importante negociante em Lisboa onde nasceu a 5 de Março de 1774 e morreu a 23 de Março de 1827, sendo sepultado no cemitério alemão. Casou com D. Doroteia Mueller. sua sobrinha filha de João Guilherme Cristiano Mueller, 1º pastor luterano da Congregação Evangélica Alemã e Lisboa e mais tarde director da Academia Real das Ciências de Lisboa, e de D. Ana Elisabeth M. sua tia. Viveu este casal muitos anos no palácio de Mitra, an Junqueira, depois mudou-se se para o palácio do conde da Ponte, e Santo Amaro. Mais tarde foram viver para um palácio em Benfica, a primeira sociedade de Lisboa ali se reunia aos domingos, em festas.
