According to what has been handed down, this family descends from the Macci of Florence, a noble House from Tuscany that gave birth to several priors, such as that Bindo Macci in 1286, of the Ghibelline side. Probably in one of the expulsion of the Ghibellines from the city, a branch of the Macci took refuge in the Abruzzo area and settled there, partially changing the surname to avoid repercussions. For this reason the descendants did not ask for the recognition of the ancestral nobility but integrated themselves into the Abruzzo social fabric as skilled entrepreneurs and landowners, always enjoying great consideration in many provinces of the Kingdom of Naples.
