Antica e potente famiglia feudale Piacentina. Lanfranco Malvicini Fontana, fu eletto nel 1326 capitano del popolo in Reggio; Bartolomeo, uomo d'armi, contrasse matrimonio nel 1375 con Diambra, nobilissima padovana, figlia di Arcoano Buccarini; nel 1393 dal vicario capitolare di Ferrara fu investito in molti poderi, decime e varie altre giurisdizioni nel Ferrarese; ebbe feudi nel territorio di Cesena, fu signore di Castel S. Giovanni e di altre località nel Piacentino; nel 1398 con Folchino Stretti e Giovanni Landi venne mandato in solenne ambasciata al duca Gian Galeazzo Visconti per ottenere la conferma dello Studio pubblico in Piacenza. Dondario, celebre capitano al servizio di Giovanni Visconti fece prodigi di valore alla battaglia di Parabiago nel 1339, per cui dal duca medesimo creato cavaliere sul campo passò ...
