Nobility crown MarscianoL'antichissima stirpe dei conti di Marsciano, signori di gran parte dell'Umbria, con prerogative sovrane, ricevette nel 1338 l'imperatore Lodovico il Bavaro nel suo castello di Poggio Aquilone. L'abate Ughelli nel 1667 ne pubblicava la storia mettendone in rilievo i pregi. Fra i molti documenti da lui pubblicati sulle antiche investiture imperiali e pontificie, notiamo il Breve di Leone X del 10 gennaio 1518 col quale le conferma tutte ad Antonio di Marsciano, dandogli piena giurisdizione delle terre di Castel Parrano, Castel Migliano, Poggio Aquilone, Montegiove, ecc. con mero e misto imperio. I conti di Marsciano, possedettero più di 50 feudi e ad Orvieto, dove avevano la sede principale, occuparono le primarie cariche, venendo ascritto agli Ordini di Malta e di S.Stefano.
