Nobility crown MastroddiAntica ed assai nobile famiglia abruzzese, originaria di Tagliacozzo, di chiara e avita virtù, propagatasi, nel corso dei secoli, in diverse regioni d'Italia. Questa nobile prosapia ha goduto del titolo baronale e comitale. L'origine di tal cognominizzazione va ricercata nell'unione tra il termine medioevale "mastro", che indica un mestiere artigiano svolto dal capostipite, ed il nome proprio "Otto". I primi riferimenti al casato in Tagliacozzo si rinvengono già nel secolo decimo sesto, quando, in un resoconto storico del 1516 viene citato un certo Domenico di Mastroddo che prese la salma del Beato Tommaso da Celano e la trasportò nella chiesa di S. Francesco di Tagliacozzo. Successivamente i Mastroddi continuarono a vivere a Tagliacozzo, partecipando attivamente alla vita civica, culturale e politica della loro terra.
