Le titre de chevalier et les armoiries blasonnées ent été accordées par Napoléon Ier à Pierre Mataly de Marans pour en jouir, lui et ses descendants mâles. Il était alors major au 15ème régiment d'infanterie légère. Depuis il fut colonel du 138ème, et le 30 avril, général de la brigade. Le 2 aoùt 1830, il fut appelé au commandement du département d'Eure-et-Loir, et le 22 mars 1831, compris dans le cadre d'activité de l'état-major. Né le 17 février 1770 à Laborie, commune de Capdrot, canton de Monpazier (Dordogne) il est mort à Paris, le 16 juillet 1842. Il était officier de la Lègion-d'Honneur, depuis le 10 août 1807, et chevalier de Saint-Louis, depuis le 8 mars. Son fils Raymond, né à Moupazier le 28 nivòse an VI de la République Française (17 janvier 1798), était chef d'escadron et chevalier de la Légion- d'Honneur.
