En la villa de Maya del Baztán, del partido judicial de Pamplona, en Navarra, hubo una casa de este apellido, y otra, llamada Palacio de Arrechea, en la villa de Falces, del partido judicial de Tafalla, también en Navarra. Otra casa del mismo apellido radicó en la villa de Motrico, del partido judicial de Vergara (Guipúzcoa). También en Cataluña hubo familias apellidadas M., que acaso procedieran de la villa de Maya de Moncal, del partido judicial de Olot (Gerona). Dichas familias moraron en la ciudad de Seo de Urgell (Lérida), y también, según Garma y Durán, en la ciudad de Tarragona. De la casa de la villa de Navarra de Maya del Baztán, fué Juan de M., natural de Maya del Baztán, esposo de doña Juana de Torres, de igual naturaleza, y ambos padres de Miguel de M. y Torres, natural de Maya del Baztán, que casó con doña María de Endériz, a la que hizo madre de Domingo de M. y Endériz, que nació en Pamplona y contrajo matrimonio con doña Ana Suárez de Cardoso y Maldonado (hija de Agustín Suárez de Cardoso y de doña Juana Maldonado). Este caballero pasó al antiguo Departamento de Antioquia, en la hoy República de Colombia, en 1628, y ejerció el oficio de Contador de la Real Hacienda. Murió el 29 de Marzo de 1662, dejando este hijo Ventura de M. y Suárez, natural de Santa Fe de Bogotá y uno de los fundadores de la ciudad de Medellín, que pasó al valle de Aburrá, donde casó el 28 de Octubre de 1669 con doña Juana de Acevedo y Vivanco. ...
