Lopo Sanches que teve o senhorio de Alaba e do Vale de Lodio, por volta de 1081. Casou com sua prima D. Sancha Dias de Frias, filha de D. Diogo Lopes, oitavo senhor soberano de Biscaia que era neto paterno de D. Iñigo Lopes, acima referido, e teve D. Iñigo Lopes, senhor de Lodio e Mendoza, pelo que tomou o apelido de Mendoza. Foi casado com D. Teresa Ximenes, filha de D. Ximeno Iñigues, Rico-homem, senhor de Cameras, nascendo deste matrimónio vários filhos que usaram o apelido de Mendonça e, entre eles, D. Diogo Lopes de Mendoza, quarto senhor de Lodio, Laiterim e Mendonça, Rico homem, casado com D. Leonor Furtado, senhora de Mendobil, filha de Fernão Peres, chamado o Hurtado, meio irmão de D. Afonso VII, Rei de Castela. Foi o filho destes, Fernan Hurtado de Mendoza, que veio para Portugal deixando ilustre geração que aportuguesou os apelidos para Furtado de Mencoça ou Mendonça. ...
