Nobility crown MontanarellaAntica ed illustre famiglia del Meridione d'Italia, di chiara ed avita virtù, propagatasi, nel corso dei secoli, in diverse regioni d'Italia. Originaria della Terra di Candela in Capitanata, essa discende da un ramo del nobile casato Basilico, oriundo della Sicilia ma con diramazioni anche in Candela, Puglia. Successivamente i Montanarella hanno diramato anche in diversi luoghi della Basilicata e della Campania. Donna Anna Montanarella, erede della nobile famiglia Basilico, andò in moglie al nobile Francesco Iambrenghi, celebre dottore in l'una e l'altra legge, nel 1656. La coppia si trasferì proprio a Candela, per amministrare le proprietà terriere, allora incentrate sulla masseria di campo detta Giardino. Anche il di loro figlio Paolo, nel 1675, prese in moglie una erede di un altro ramo dei Basilico, Giulia Bonadies.
