Die älteste bekannte Figur ist ein Israel Isserein, Sohn von Petachia aus Regensburg, der nach Angaben einiger Autoren um 1400 in Marburg in der Steiermark geboren wurde und um 1457 nach Wien gezogen wäre, um seine Prosapia unter der Name von Marburg, und wäre dort im Jahr 1460 gestorben. Nach 1560 erließ Ferdinand I. ein Ausweisungsdekret der Juden gegen Wien, und die Marburgs mussten ausgehen und sich in drei Zweige aufteilen, die jeweils ihr Hauptquartier in Nordmerania errichteten , in Krakau und Gradisca am Isonzo. Die Familie Morgurgo stammte zweifellos aus dem Zweig Gradisca und zog zu verschiedenen Zeiten an folgende Orte: in Padua und Görz im 17.
