Dans le Grand Armorial de France (registre de Périgueux), on trouve d'autres armes sous le nom de Jean de Mourcin, chanoine théologal de Saint-Astier, décrites: D'argent à deux jumelles de sable et un chef de gueules chargé de trois croisettes d'or. Le dernier du nom de Mourcin, né le 19 juin 1784, à Chauffre, commune de Razac (Dordogne), auteur du Lexique Grec et de plusieurs opuscules scientifiques et historiques, fut annotateur des Antiquités de Vésone, pour le comte Wlgrin de Taillefer. Il a laissé de nombreux manuscrits sur les origines des langues, des étymologies, etc., et son précieux cabinet d'antiquités a été légué, par lui, à un de ses parents, M. Charles de Menou. On voit son buste à la bibliothèque publique de Périgueux. Dans les actes de l'hôtel-de-ville de la paroisse de St-Sylain, les père et grand-père de notre savant antiquaire sont qualifiés nobles citoyens de Périgueux et écuyers.
