Tra i nobili romani che favorirono l'elezione di Leone IX (Egesheim 1049-1054) si trova un Cencio. Essendosi moltiplicata poi la famiglia alcuni erano chiamati Muti, altri Nuti, Capucci, Palombi. Nell'archivio di S. Maria in Via Lata in un istromento si trova notato un Romano nel 1148. Nel 1474 un Paolo figlio di Carlo Muti sposò una Antonietta figlia di Saba Muti del rione Campomarzo. Vi erano dei Muti nel Rione S. Eustacchio e altri nel rione Pigna, come risulta da un concordato fatto tra queste due famiglie il 23 novembre 1507. I Muti Papazzurri dei quali parliamo avevano il loro palazzo nel Rione Trevi vicino ai SS. Apostoli. Di questa famiglia è da notarsi un Carlo che fu Podestà di Velletri nel 1453, e poi Podestà di Perugia nel 1465, Girolamo Conservatore di Roma due volte, Pompeo figlio del detto Girolamo acquistò dalla famiglia Baldisera il feudo di Filacciano con il titolo marchionale, cambiato poi con il feudo di Rignano in allora dei Borghesi. Tra i Conservatori di Roma dati da questa illustre famiglia notiamo Muzio nel 1539, Ottavio nel 1603, Girolamo nel 1639, ed altri e tra Priori dei Caporioni Girolamo nel 1793. All'epoca della Bolla Benedettina questa famiglia venne annoverata tra le coscritte per mezzo del suo capo Vincenzo che morì in Filacciano il 14 settembre 1779, a cui successe con Senatus Consulto del 18 marzo 1781 suo fratello Curzio che morì in Roma il 13 ottobre 1797 ed in suo luogo venne con Senatus Consulto dell'11 novembre detto anno nnominato suo figlio Girolamo, morto Girolamo il 24 dicembre 1810 venne con Senatus Consulto del 12 gennaio 1816 nominato suo figlio Raffaele colla morte del quale si estinse questa famiglia ed il cognome e titoli passarono alla famiglia Savorelli. ...
