El linaje es muy antiguo, como lo prueba el figurar entre los principales conquistadores de Baeza (Jaén), el caballero Gil de O., por quien se llamó Torre de O. una de las de aquella ciudad. Ese famoso guerrero está considerado desde entonces en Baeza y Ubeda, pródiga en varones ilustres y esforzados, que se distinguieron en la reconquista de Andalucía y más tarde en las empresas de América. Algunos pasaron a Portugal. Dicho Gil de O., conquistador de Baeza, fué ascendiente de Gonzalo Gil de O., establecido en Baeza, que procreó a Ximén González de O., Caballero muy principal de dicha ciudad, y padre de Martín Gil de O., y Gonzalo García de O. De estos dos hermanos descienden los de este apellido en Andalucía, así como los que pasaron a Portugal y a América. El primero, Martín González de O., casó con doña Sancha González de Gámez, hija de Sancho Díaz de Gámez y de doña Teresa González de Morales, Señores de la Figueruela, que heredó doña Sancha. Como no tuiveron sucesión, vendieron la Figueruela a Pedro Díaz de Quesada y a doña Juana de Cárcamo, su mujer, Señores de la villa de Garciez, y dejaron el cortijo de Torrubia a la iglesia Catedral de Baeza, según consta por escrituras antiguas. El segundo, Gonzalez García de O., heredó el cortijo de Corral Rubio y contrajo matrimonio con doña Leonor Ramírez de Dávalos, naciendo de esa unión Gil Ramírez de Dávalos, de quien descendieron todos los caballeros de este apellido que moraron en Baeza. ...
