En Álava y Navarra hay dos lugares llamados Otazu, que deben tener relación con este apellido. Varios autores dicen que, en efecto, en el lugar de Otazu, del Ayuntamiento y partido de Vitoria, hubo una casa apellidada O.-Guevara. Otra radicó en el lugar de Luyando, del Ayuntamiento de Ayala y partido judicial de Amurrio, con ramas en los lugares de Gomecha y Guereña, del partido de Vitoria; otra en el lugar de Zurbano, también en Álava, y otra en Elduayen (Guipúzcoa). En 1398 había individuos de este apellido avecindados en Tolosa, como Juan Martínez de O. Los O. de Navarra, probablemente originarios, del lugar de Otazu de aquella región perteneciente al Ayuntamiento de Echauri y partido judicial de Pamplona, tuvieron casa solares en el lugar de Arraiza y en la villa de Puente la Reina, también pertenecientes al partido de Pamplona. La casa alavesa de O. del lugar de Luyando, la incendiaron las tropas francesas en 1808, siendo después reedificada en parte con las dimensiones que quedaron de aquélla. De esa casa fué descendiente Juan de O., vecino del lugar de Gomecha, que contrajo matrimonio con doña Úrsula de Lezama, y fueron padres de Juan González de O. y Lezama, bautizado en el lugar de Gomecha el 3 de Agosto de 1613, y casado con doña María de Irurzun, a la que hizo madre de Juan González de O. e Irurzun, bautizado en el lugar de Gomecha el 13 de Agosto de 1636. Contrajo matrimonio con doña Juana Aguirre y procrearon a Domingo y Matías González de O. y Aguirre. ...
