Antica e nobilissima famiglia italiana, di chiara ed avita virtù, conosciuta come Palavicino o Palavicini ma anche Pallavicino o Pallavicini, propagatasi, nel corso dei secoli, in diverse regioni d'Italia e d'Europa, con nobili e importanti insediamenti nel Regno di Spagna. Come leggiamo nella pregevolissima opera araldica "La nobiltà veneta" dello storico e traduttore Casimir Freschot (Morteau, 1640 circa – 20 ottobre 1720), fregio cospicuo di nobiltà vantarono gli antenati di questa famiglia in Milano. Tra essi spicca certamente il marchese Orlando Palavicino che nel 1427 si portò in quel di Venezia, ove ottenne l'aggregazione al corpo dei Patrizi. Da egli discese Girolamo Palavicino che, nel 1445, fissò stabilmente in Venezia la dimora familiare.
