Antica ed assai nobile famiglia di Capua trapiantata in Pisa nel 1080 da messer Andronico, di messer Pandolfo Pandolfi. Un altro Pandolfo, nel 1299, era console ed anziano della città di Pisa ed appartenne fin dal 1260 al consiglio generale della Repubblica. Nella memoranda battaglia navale della Meloria, Pandolfo comandava la galera nominata Lanfranchi. Dopo quella disastrosa giornata, Pandolfo abbandonò con la famiglia la patria e si recò in Sicilia. Ivi, nel 1582, la famiglia ottenne l'investitura della baronia di Realtavilla, che tenne sino al 1703. Fabio, di Silvio Pandolfi, nel 1390, da Palermo era andato capitano alle Grotte di Castro, presso Bolsena, divenendo stipite della famiglia dei conti Pandolfi di Orvieto, la quale, nel 1820, si diramò nei conti Pandolfi di Roma.
