Un Giacomo Modi è ricordato nel 1776 tra i nobili consiglieri. Sul principio dell'anno 1800 un Giovanni, avendo sposato una nobile P. dell'antica famiglia di Ancona, dove troviamo fin dal 1694 un Ambrogio e Giandomenico aggregati a quel patriziato, aggiunse il primo cognome e ne inquartò lo stemma. La famiglia è iscritta nell'Elenco Nobiliare Ufficiale Italiano con i titoli di patrizio di Ancona (maschi e femmine), nobile di Pesaro (maschi e femmine).
