Arriete P., que vino a la conquista con su primo Juan de Bethencourt, es el tronco común de todos los Betancores de Canarias. El apellido P. es alteración del apodo francés Prudhomme, "prohombre". Según la tradición contrajo matrimonio con una hija de Maciot de Bethencourt y de la princesa indígena Teguise. A su mujer la llamaban Margarita y también Inés de Betancor. De dicho matrimonio desciende Juan P., Conquistador de Canaria y Tenerife, Jurado de esta isla, que tuvo en recompensa de sus muchos servicios, data en el Valle de Bajamar, y casó con Catalina de Cabrera, de la nobilísima Casa de los Cabreras de Córdoba, establecida desde la Conquista en Lanzarote y Fuerteventura. Su nieto, Marcos P. Pimentel fue ampara do en su Nobleza por la Justicia de Tenerife en 1561 y por la Real Audiencia de Canarias en 1567. Casó con Doña Damiana de Fraga y P., su prima, en La Laguna de Tenerife el 29 de marzo de 1553. De dicho matrimonio nacieron siete hijos: el Doctor Miguel P., que fue Presbítero; le siguen Simón, Marcos, Doña Mayor, Doña Leonor y Doña Isabel, que no tomaron estado y la séptima. Doña Ana de Ortega Pimentel y P., que fue sucesora en los Mayorazgos y Patronatos de la familia, y casó en la Concepción de La Laguna en julio de 1752, con el Capitán de Infantería española Gaspar de Soria, Regidor Perpetuo de Tenerife. También este apellido estuvo unido al linaje de Don Diego de Vera, por el casamiento que se produjo entre María P. con Pedro de Vera "el Viejo". ...
