Antica ed assai nobile famiglia mantovana, oriunda dalla regione del Forez in Francia, propagatasi, nel corso dei secoli, in diverse regioni d'Italia e di Francia, ove godette sempre di numerosi titoli: Visconti di Lavieu, Baroni di Roche La Molière, Signori di Boisset e Iseron, Baroni di Feugerolles, Signori di Chantois, Escotay, Chaslin, Curaize e Cournon, Signori di Aveize e Pizay, Signori di Grésieu la Varenne, Signori di Estieuges e di Augerolles ed in Forez Baroni di La brosse, Signori di Boucherolles, Beauzac, Consignori di St Just Malmont. Di questa casata molti furono i cavalieri banderesi. Ma essa può anche annoverare un arcivescovo di Vienna, Beraud, sotto la cui amministrazione fu tenuto il XV concilio nel XV secolo. Partito nel primo d'argento, al pero di verde, accostato da due leoni al naturale, affrontati e controrampanti, il tutto sostenuto da una terrazza del secondo; col capo d'azzurro, alla croce piena, d'argento; nel secondo d'argento, alla banda di rosso, accompagnata da quattro rose di rosso, tre in capo ordinate in fascia, ed una in punta; col capo d'azzurro, a tre gigli d'argento, col capo dello scudo di rosso, all'aquila bicipite di nero, coronata d'oro in ambedue le teste.
