Questa illustre e antichissima famiglia toscana, le cui origini si perdono nella notte dei tempi, si propagò nei secoli in diverse regioni d'Italia, mantenendo sempre alto il proprio nome e il proprio prestigio. I suoi membri, distintisi per virtù civili e militari, ricoprirono cariche di grande rilievo nella vita pubblica della loro epoca.
