Origin of last name Polidano, country of origin: Italia - Spagna

Nobility: Nobles - Counts
Heraldic trace of family: Polidano
Nobility crown Polidano Ancient and noble Spanish family, of clear and ancestral virtue, that has worldwide spread over the centuries, with a main branch in Italy. The clear nobility of this House is confirmed by the presence of its blazon in the valuable work "Repertorio de blasones de la comunidad hispánica - letras M-N-Ñ-O-P-Q-R" by Vicente De Cadenas y Vicent Instituto Salazar y Castro. According to what has been handed down to us, the first traces of the family can be found among the knights of the royal escort of the king of Castile, Don Fernando el Santo, who met his mother in 1245 in a place called Pozuelo where Ciudad Real was then founded. The references about this family become more frequent from the fifteenth century; in particular, many of its members were among the fleets of D. Francisco of Luxàn, who in 1567 defeated John Hawkins's ships in San Juan de... To be continued

Ulúa. In the same century a branch of the Polidano moved to Italy and settled in Lombardy, where its members devoted themselves to the practice of advocacy and notary. According to some heraldic reconstruction, the family joined in kinship with the noble House Po of Milan, that obtained the title of Count of Nerviano with magisterial order of July 10, 1697. Moreover, from the analysis of colours and symbols of the coat of arms we can have more information about the family virtues. The tincture purpure among the spiritual virtues symbolizes faith, temperance, chastity, reverence, devotion. For worldly qualities it is a symbol of great nobility, majestic grandeur, reward of honour, wealth, liberality, sovereignty and direct dignity. In tournaments it was a symbol of love. The waves, whose particular tinctures are argent and azure, symbolize the restless and traveller soul; the bridge is symbol of governor or magistrate; gold ("or"), the most noble metal, symbolizes power and wealth but also generosity and elevation of the mind. Family names so old, without any doubt honour not only families but also the cities that welcomed them; seems to be, in fact, very worthy the living members of this family which, with much decorum, carry this noble surname, which has had several illustrious members.
