Nobility crown ProolHaute bourgeoisie dont quelques membres se qualifiaient nobles. "Discret homme" Pierre Prohet, bourgeois du Puy et jurisconsulte, fut arbitre en juillet 1272, d'un différend entre Artaud de la Mastre, prieur de St-Sauveur-en-Rue et Raymond de Chambarel commandeur de St-Jean-du-Puy. Son fils Jean, damoiseau, sergent d'armes du roi bailli royal du Velay le 20 mai 1342, testa le 24 juin 1353 et fut assassiné dans l'église des Carmes de la ville du Puy le 15 août de la même année. Branches à Montferrand, à Orcival et à St-Paulien. La filiation de cette dernière est suivie depuis: Claude Prohet bourgeois en 1560, père d'autre Claude seigneur de Maméas, procureur au présidial de Riom, époux de Marie de Chabron. Leur postérité établie à Riom, très bien alliée, compte plusieurs avocats en parlement et magistrats distingués; un célèbre commentateur de la coutume d'Auvergne et Marguerite Prohet, marié le 8 mars 1666 à Antoine Brugière seigneur de Barante; des chanoines de la collégiale de St-Georges de St-Paulien; des consuls de la ville de Riom; un chanoine de N.-D. du Marthuret (1717). ...
