Esta antigua casa, con muy noble descendencia en Cataluña, Valencia y Murcia, parece tuvo su origen en Montpellier, ciudad francesa. Guillermo de R. sirvió al rey aragonés don Jaime I en las conquistas de los reinos de Valencia y Murcia. Lo cita mosén Jaime Febrer y está muy nombrado en las antiguas historias, principalemente en los Anales de Aragón, de Jerónimo Zurita. El rey don Jaime premió sus servicios dándole a la villa de Cornolesco, en la jurisdicción de Montpellier, por privilegio fechado el 12 de enero de 1265, hallándose el monarca en el cerco de la ciudad de Murcia, y un día después, por otro privilegio, le concedió en honor la villa de Miravalles. También le expresó su particular aprecio, destacando su valor, dominio del arte militar y el grado de parentesco que les unía, en Real cédula fechada en Lérida el 7 de mayo de 1273, y luego le nombró adelantado mayor de Murcia y su reino. Pocos años después murió Guillermo, siendo enterrado en la capilla del Santo Sacramento de la iglesia mayor de Murcia. Obtuvo, además, pingües repartimientos de tierras en Murcia y Orihuela. ...
