Duca pari ereditario il 31 agosto 1817. Decorato, per successione della casa Montemorency, del titolo napoletano di duca di Bisaccia, rinnovato con Regio Decreto 16 maggio 1851 al conte Carlo Maria Gabriele Sosthenes. Detto titolo apparteneva originariamente alla casa Pignatelli pel matrimonio di Luigi Pignatelli Gonzaga, duca di Solferino, conte di Fuentes (n. 1749, dec. 1801) con Alfonsina Pignatelli (21 luglio 1768), di Casimiro duca di Bisaccia e Bianca Sanseverino d'Aragona; e fu concesso, originariamente il 17 ottobre 1600, ad Ascanio Pignatelli quondam Scipione (dec. 23 marzo 1601), marito di Lucrezia di Capua, barone di Bisaccia dal 1592.
