Nobility crown RochierL'une des "huit maisons de bourgeoisie vivant noblement et possédant fiefs", considérées par Médicis, comme étant déjà de bonne ancienneté dans la ville du Puy, en 1544. Pierre, dit de Conches, riche marchand au XIIIème siècle, acquit la seigneurie de Mauriac. Jean Rochier fut l'un des députés des bonnes villes du Languedoc, envoyés par les États généraux de cette province en 1359, vers le roi Jean captif en Angleterre, pour l'assurer de sa fidélité et lui apporter une somme de 2.353 moutons d'or et un tiers. Jean Rochier, bourgeois du Puy, fonda le 6 février 1375, dans l'église de St-Laurent de cette ville, une chapelle avec tombeau dite chapelle des Rochier seigneurs de Mauriac. Eustache était qualifié noble en 1456. Il fut premier consul du Puy en 1446 et 1457; Pierre Rochier en 1470; autre Pierre en 1549 et noble Pierre seigneur de Mauriac en 1559. On trouve encore: noble Godefroy (1500); noble Claude et noble Françoise veuve de Guillaume Dolezon (1565); Jacques seigneur de Mauriac (1572-1590) dont la fille: Bonne Rochier, dame de Mauriac, épousa vers cette dernière date Claude du Verdier, écuyer, seigneur de Valprivas. Ils sont peints, l'un et l'autre, avec leurs armes, sur la fresque (Résurrection des morts) du château de Valprivas. ...
