La prima testimonianza di questo cognome risale al XIII secolo, quando fiorì un Dilndeych (1242), sagrestano a Riedlingen. Dal punto di vista araldico e nobiliare questa casata è originaria dell'Alto Palatinato e venne nobilitata dall'Imperatore Giuseppe I nell'anno 1758 ma già dal 4 aprile 1708 i suoi esponenti potevano fregiarsi del titolo di Cavalieri del Sacro Romano Impero.
