En el lugar Ranero, del Ayuntamiento de Carranza y partido judicial de Valmaseda, que antiguamente llamaban Encartaciones de Vizcaya, moró una familia así apellidada, de la que procedió José S. de Cosca, que en su mujer doña María de Aedo tuvo a Bartolomé S. de Cosca y Aedo, que casó con doña María Llanos y procrearon a Sebastían S. de Cosca y Llanos, bautizado en Anguciana el 26 de Agosto de 1593, que contrajo matrimonio con doña María Francisca González Montaya, naciendo de esta unión Sebastián S. de Cosca y González de Montoya, que sigue en esta filiación, y José S. de Cosca y González de Montoya, que volveremos a citar, por ser progenitor de otra línea. Sebastián S. de Cosca y González de Montoya, bautizado el 2 de Febrero de 1633, casó con doña María Santos y fueron padres de Sebastián S. de Cosca y Santos, bautizado en el lugar de Castañares de Rioja, del partido de Haro, el 1° de Febrero de 1705, que se unió en matrimonio con doña Brígida Ruiz de Ael, a la que hizo madre de Sebastían y José S. de Cosca y Ruiz de Ael, bautizados, respectivamente, e Castañares de Rioja el 13 de Septiembre de 1733 y el 22 de Noviembre de 1736. Estos dos hermanos obtuvieron Real provisión de vizcainía en la Chancillería de Valladolid el 5 de Octubre de 1775. José S. de Cosca y González de Montoya, ya citado en la anterior filiación, fué bautizado en Anguciana el 25 de Marzo de 1641 y casó con doña Catalina Villarejo, en la que tuvo a José S. de Cosca y Villarejo. ...
