Antica e illustre famiglia oriunda da Asti, che si vuole, ma con nessun fondamento, originaria dalla Fiandra. Diramò largamente, ma di tutti i rami un tempo fiorenti, oggi non rimangono che il presente e quello dei marchesi di Prunetto, dei quali non si conoscono gli attacchi genealogici fra di loro. Appartenente a questo ramo un Tommaso che avendo soccorso di denari il marchese Teodoro Paleologo di Monferrato, ebbe in dono il castello e il feudo di Camino nel 1323, dei quali fu investito il 27 settembre 1327. Sposò Antonina di Valperga, e furono suoi figli, fra gli altri: Giorgino, Lorenzo e Rolando. Quest'ultimo, che fu vescovo di Reggio (1340) e patriarca di Costantinopoli (1348) lasciò numerose opere manoscritte, conservate un tempo nel monastero di S.
