Secondo quanto ci viene tramandato, essa, come anche i nobili Schneeberg della Franconia, discende dalla casata Schnabel di Norimberga, un cui ramo, nel XVI secolo, vuolsi sia passato nel Baden-Württemberg ed ivi abbia modificato parzialmente il proprio nome in Schnaberich. Il primo personaggio di cui abbiamo novella storica certa è quel Johann Schnaberich, pubblico notaio in Neckarsulm nonché professore di grammatica, fiorente nel 1624 e citato nel volume del 1891 "Geschichte Des Volksschulwesens in Württemberg: Bd. Das Volksschulwesen in Den Neuerworbenen Katholischen Landesteilen" di Bernhard Kaißer. D’altronde questa, nel dispiegarsi dei lustri, sempre è riuscita a produrre una serie di uomini che hanno reso illustre il suo nome, nei pubblici impieghi, nelle professioni liberali e nel servizio militare.
