La casata Semino, di stirpe antica e nobilissima, trae le sue origini dalla villa di Balzaneto, posta nella valle della Polcevera. Degno di menzione è Michele, che nel 1386 fu annoverato tra gli Anziani, e successivamente, nel 1391, ricoprì la carica di consigliere popolare presso l’Ottava Compagnia del Borgo di Prè, nella contrada di San Fede. Nello stesso anno, Oberto fu consigliere popolare nella Compagnia di Castello, in contrada di Ravecca. Nel 1488, Pasquale, Francesco, Giovanni, Andrea, Teramo, Simone ed un altro Giovanni presenziarono al solenne giuramento di fedeltà reso a Giovan Galeazzo, Duca di Milano, attestando così la lealtà della loro casata. Agostino, uomo di lettere e notaro, fu annoverato tra gli Anziani nel 1497. La famiglia Semino fu ascritta alla nobiltà genovese negli anni 1528 e 1576, venendo aggregata agli illustri alberghi Cicala e Gentile, accrescendo così il proprio prestigio. L’arma che li distingue è d’oro, con un’aquila di nero, coronata del medesimo campo, sorgente da due monti laterali tra tre, di verde, congiunti. Che i membri di questa insigne famiglia abbiano sempre disdegnato le cose volgari, confidando unicamente nelle proprie virtù per ottenere giusta ricompensa, è attestato dai documenti pervenutici sino ai nostri giorni. Tra questi, il Dizionario Storico-Blasonico del commendatore G.B. di Crollalanza raccoglie le tracce da essi lasciate nelle città in cui dimorarono, ricoprendo cariche legislative e militari, e contribuendo in maniera non trascurabile alla redazione di quegli atti che oggi illuminano la storia di questa nobile stirpe. ...
