Antica famiglia bassanese, nota sin dal secolo XV e fin da quell'epoca aggregata fra quelle nobili famiglie Domenico, della vicina d'Angarano, fu fatto cittadino di Bassano nel 1431 e nel 1444 fu aggregato a quel nobile Consiglio. Questa famiglia diede gran numero d'uomini d'armi e giureconsulti. Un ramo, trasferitosi a Vicenza, vi fu ascritto a quel nobile Consiglio nel 1763; un altro, trasferitosi a Venezia nel secolo XVII, vi esercitò il commercio della seta. Questo ramo non fu compreso nella revisione dei nobili bassanesi del 1726, ma vi fu reintegrato nel 1775 e fu confermato nell'antica nobiltà con S.R. 21 sett. 1821. Il titolo di nobile di Bassano fu riconosciuto con D.M. 6 sett. 1914. Altro ramo. Aggregata nel 1763 al Consiglio nobile di Vicenza, fu confermata nella sua nobiltà con sovrana risoluzione 8 Luglio 1820. Lo stemma della famiglia Stecchini è:
