Nobility crown CrepaldiAntica famiglia emiliana, di chiara ed avita virtù, propagatasi, nel corso dei secoli, in diverse regioni d'Italia e, prevalentemente, in Veneto ed in Lombardia. L'origine di tal cognominizzazione, al dir di autorevoli genealogisti, andrebbe ricercata in una forma contratta del nome medioevale "Garipaldus", appartenuto, probabilmente, ad un, oggi ignoto, capostipite. Le prime tracce di tal cognome si rinvengono nell'archivio anagrafico della chiesa Santa Maria Assunta di Adria (RO) dove in alcuni documenti risalenti al 1264 circa sono registrate le nascite dei primi Crepaldo. In ogni modo, secondo quanto ci viene tramandato, tal casato venne ammesso agli onori del cavalierato, in seguito alla partecipazione, connotata da coraggio e virtù, nel 1509, di un Niccolò, sotto i vessilli estensi, al celebre fatto d'arme della Battaglia di Polesella, nella quale l'esercito terrestre, sotto la diretta supervisione di Alfonso I, sconfisse la Repubblica Veneta.
