Antichissimo ed assai illustre casato spagnolo, un cui ramo passò in Italia, stabilendosi nel Regno di Napoli, in persona di don Luigi, del Supremo Consiglio dell'Imperatore Carlo V e che fu arcivescovo di Salerno. I nipoti di costui, don Luigi e don Hernando, diventarono l'uno arcivescovo di Monreale, l'altro cavaliere dell'Ordine di S. Giacomo della Spada.
