Nobility crown TurdoAntica ed illustre famiglia del Regno di Napoli, propagatasi, nel corso dei secoli, in diverse regioni d'Italia e d'Europa. L'origine di tal cognome va ricercata nel personale "Turdus", assai in uso in epoca tarda latina. Secondo quanto ci viene tramandato, tal casato fu aggregato al patriziato di Salerno. Il primo personaggio di cui abbiamo novella è un Lapo Turdo, barone di Orsogna e Tutoli, giustiziere in Terra del Lavoro e contea di Molise, uomo fidato del Duca di Calabria, fiorente nel 1301. Originario di Pistoia, da famiglia di discendenza spagnola, fu il primo a stabilirsi nel Meridione e continuare ivi la discendenza. D'altronde la casata, nel dispiegarsi dei lustri, sempre è riuscita a distinguersi per gli elevati personaggi a cui ha dato i natali, chiari nelle professioni liberali, nelle carriere militari ed in quelle ecclesiastiche.
