Nobility crown VillanoFamiglia originaria dalla città di Cava, dove nel sec. XII otteneva investitura del feudo di Aiello; ai primi del sec. XV passava in Sanseverino e quindi in Napoli, ove ricoperse alti uffici di magistratura. Fu decorata del titolo di duca di Roscigno e Sacco, in Principato Citra, titolo concesso a Giuseppe l'8 ott. 1621, passato poi per successione femminile nella fam. Albito Carafa con Eleonora (deced. 24 dicembre 1853) moglie del nobile Gio. Battista Gattola de Martino, e da questa nella famiglia Patroni Griffi. Venne ricevuta per giustizia nel S.M. Ordine di Malta dal 1586 con Giacomo; e nel 1602 come quarto della famiglia Pagano. Venne aggregata al patriziato napolitano nel Seggio di Montagna ed ascritta poi per R.D. 24 marzo 1851, in linea reintegra, al Libro d'Oro napolitano.
