Antica ed assai nobile famiglia trentina, di chiara ed avita virtù, originaria della città di Rovereto, propagatasi, nel corso dei secoli, in diverse regioni d'Italia. La chiara nobiltà del casato discende dall'investitura di Nicolò-Gottardo Zucchelli, medico in Riva ed in Rovereto, che, con diploma dato a 6 maggio 1759, fu creato nobile dell'Impero dall'imperatore Francesco. I Zucchelli del Trentino sono però della medesima agnazione degli omonimi di Lombardia. Entrambe le casate vantano infatti una antichissima origine che rimanda a quel Zucchellino Gracco, di illustre famiglia romana, giunto in territorio lombardo nel lontano 930. Egli ebbe due figli, Odoardo ed Amilcare, i quali, essendosi divisi tra loro, lasciarono l'originario cognome de' Gracchi assumendo il primo Zucchi ed il secondo Zucchelli.
