ALTINER | ALTINIER

Very rare surnames, specific to the upper eastern Trevisano, area between Conegliano and Sacile, Altinier seems specific of Godega Di Sant'urbano (TV), they could derive from the ancient name Altino (Venetian lagoon), which dates back to before the VI century. BC additions provided by Giovanna Altinier Altinier may also derive from the proper Lombard name Altiniero. By way of example we cite Altiniero degli Azzoni from Treviso of the 1300s.
