Anardu, very very rare, is typical of the southwest of Sardinia, with a small stock in Arbus in the Medio Campidano. additions provided by Giuseppe Concas ANARDU: anadru, anadre (in Nuoro), anàdi or enàdi in Campidano = duck; from the Latin anatis. Anàrdzu, enàrdzu or enàrju is also the wild oat, aèna, from the Latin avena. A-renardzu is the crab "su cavuru de areni". V-enardzu (v-enadroxu, or benadroxu) is the source. Suppose it is a recent surname, because we did not find it in the ancient Sardinian documents. Currently the surname Anardu is present in 23 Italian Municipalities, of which 11 in Sardinia: Arbus 16, Turri 7, Capoterra 6, Quartu SE 6, Ales 6 etc.
