Etymological origin of Italian surname: Brasi


There is a bergamasco stew in the area of Clusone ed one in Venice, which may be derived from an old local name, quit quoted in a text of 1251: "... fratris Hilarij Prioris S. Salvatori Cavina, alias Cassina; fratris Bonavogliae Prioris Brasi Eremes, alias de Buyo; fratris Huguccionis Prioris de Corbaria, alias Cerbaria ... ",, another hypothesis and derive from the medieval name Blasius (see Biasio) from which we received a phrase in one written from 1563 to Pavia : "... Ego Blasius, filius egregii Baptiste de Saliis de Auxiliano, ducalis et appostolicus notarius, habitants in civitate Vercellarum et vicarious Sancti Laurenti ...".
